Can Advertising Be Conscious?

Hey! It's been too long since I've posted to this blog! Where've I been? Too long of a story...and who needs more stories? But here's something that got me excited today. It's conscious advertsing. Think that's an oxymoron? Well, get your head out of the 20th Century, then!

I love this post! It says it all. While this may seem obvious to many of us now, we all grew up in the 20th century as our parents readily invited this kind of propaganda into our homes. I had no idea how deeply penetrating this kind of propaganda affected our very livlihoods until attending college and immersing myself in modern political theory and media studies. One of my favorite books on this very subject is Stuart Ewen's Captains of Consciousness: The social roots of the consumer culture.
Its not the advertisers fault to stop using such tactics to sell. Its the consumers fault. If they are of such a pyche then the add worked. In this Republic we have personal responsibility. If we cant then we alter our self government.
